Apexi Power FC or ScoobyECU re-map?
I'm getting an STI4 lump put in my car & have a set of 440's lying around somewhere. I want an Apexi but might need to wait for a bit so is it worth as an economical get-me-by to have the ScoobyECU re-mapped for say 19-20psi from the current 15.5?
Whadda you think? Should I just wait or get the chip mapped?
Any idea who could do it & how much it would be?

If that's all you're ever going to do with the engine, then go the ScoobyECU route. If you think you might want to remap it afterwards, at least once, then go for the Apexi. The Apexi makes mapping time (and money) so much better utilised that you will see the value of it within just a few upgrades and tweaks.
Oh yes, if you're going to sell the car shortly, the Scoobyecu tweak will be the most cost effective.

Iain,
I know it will run the same on the 380's. The whole idea was to do a comparison on price for a re-map on the ScoobyECU or an Apexi to see whether it would be a good interim solution for a performance inhancement when using the 440's.
Might wait for a little bit and get the Apexi as PE don't seem to know if they can re-map ScoobyECU chips or not.
Cheers

There's a guy called Robert there who i've been mailing & he doesn't seem to know what i'm talking about
I tell him i'm getting an STI4 block in a MY95UK & he thinks I want an STI4/5 upgrade, I tell him it's a ScoobyECU chip & he thinks I want an STI4ECU remap!!!
It's like getting blood out of a stone at the moment. Hopefully the next reply he'll understand what I want but it's not filling me with confidence at the mo LOL

I am assuming you have an actual scoobyecu with the adaptor PCB and not one of the original style eeproms (if you got the SE from david, pat then it should be a pcb one).
If that is the case I would sugget you do the following.
Tell PE you have an uprated bottom end on the engine, and you want your PE phase 1 conversion tweaking to suit. If you tell them that it's one of their later ones that uses a red PCB you should have no problem. I would avoid specifiying STI anything, just that it has an uprated bottom and the PE phase 1 board on the ECU.

You got it from me in the pub car park IIRC along with Kev and RB5 286
And yes it's a Red PCB with 2 27C512 EPROMS
PE probably won't want to know at the PSi levels you are talking. Also the standard map sensor max's out at 17.5psi (approx)
I wouldn't be suprised if the STi 4 block performs poorer then your 'weird' UK that gave 290BHP with just a decat.
P.S Maffa, you car and it's weird output, is being talked about at the bottom of this thread http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=374968

I'm working on a map for a friend (and one for myself) using a ScoobyECU and 550cc injectors & 3bar MAP sensors. It's getting a bit silly now as one car dets like mad over 4800 RPM (20PSI of boost up to there though...). And it takes so long to get a new chip programmed as I can only do them at lunch times at work.
It would probably be easier with 2 PFCs... But they cost money, and it's nice to see how far the standard bits can be pushed.
PS if you want any help programming either sorts of the ScoobyECU chips, I can help.

Mmmmm think by the sounds of this it'll totally be worth waiting a few weeks & getting the Power FC after it's been run in properly That way at least I could make some cash from the sale of the freebie commander & my ScoobyECU chip

Thats exactly the reason i got a Link, then PFC after having a reprogrammed oem ecu. Spending so long making small map changings with my head under the dash changing chips every time really did pi$$ me off.
Go on Dave, you know you want to. Just over £400 including commander and shipping from Jap Andy on ebay
Tony.
