noisey power steering
Hi guys I have a 95 import impreza and it had a slightly seeping power steering pump so i decided to get a second hand one and try it on there, fitted new one filled it up and run it up but it is now very noisy and the steering feels horrible, there seems to be alot of air coming up to the top i spoke to subaru garage and he told me to loosen the 17mm and wait till fluid came through and then try but it is still the same, It does sound like it has air in there.
Has anybody ever had same problem and knows the cure or is it that the pump i fitted is duff
any advise would be apreciated thanks weis

put two glossy mags under your front wheels
fill the res with fluid, and start the engine,
leave the lid off the power sreering res, and slowly turn the steering from lock to lock..
you should get loads of bubbles comming up, and the level will drop. top up and wait till the bubbbles stop comming..
it should be ok..
there is a faster way, but the scooby purists will be out for blood

faster way is wheels on ground, go from one lock to the other...
hold the wheel on full lock ..
the fluid then is then under pressuer, makes the relief valve open and the fluid under pressure heats up ..
we were told to do this on our forklift training course.. aparntly it heats the fluid and warm the steeering up...
sounds like you have a seal gone .. garage job i,m afraid
