STI Backbox on a WRX
Will it make any difference in the performance for the worse? I don't care how loud it is or whether it gives it better performance, only that it looks better than the pea shooters on there to start off with.

I have heard that there is an improvement in flow over the p shooter, and it does have a slightly different sound although its marginal.
I do wonder why this is fitted to the cars that make 280bhp standard from the factory and the twin pipe to the 220/240bhp.There must be some difference.
It deffinately looks much better though.

Good, we don't want it toooo loud as we are currently good friends with our neighbours and we would like it to stay the way, the noise is fine how it is.

Done the same with my MY02 WRX. I wouldn't say it's any louder, just gives a slightly different burble.
I have no other mods on my car apart from the STI backbox and I made 232 BHP at a rolling road in the summer. I never measured it when standard and most believe that 218 is an underestimation anyway. So it may make a difference.
