Default fuel pump questions

Getting the car ready for a remap- JDM Newage wrx
How easy is it to change the fuel pump?
Is it the walbro 255 pump needed?
Can i sill run the car with the new pump fitted while i wait for the re-map?
thanks.

It's not difficult to change - there's a good guide here (You might need to register first)

Just remember to open the fuel cap before you start unplugging hoses from fuel lines - otherwise you will get more petrol spilage than you really want.
I fitted the walbro 255 pump to mine (UK Newage car).
Don't use the filter supplied with your pump (if you got one) reuse the original one.
I had my pump fitted approx 2 weeks before remap so no problems doing that. The car will likely be running a little rich until mapped though.

Personally, I didn't fancy leaving it until the last minute just in case I had issues that I needed time to resolve. you'd be gutted if you fitted it the day before the remap and then realise you have a problem with it.

I just drove carefully (short shifted) for 2 weeks - especially when on boost.

PS - Have an old towell or something ready to soak up the little bit of petrol that seeps out of the fuel pipes when you disconnected the hoses.

Hope it goes well.

Mark.
