Talking Z4 ecu

Hi all,Was just wondering if the z4 ecu would fit straight into a MY95 saloon uk turbo(series mcrae) if so would i gain anything over the standard ecu.The reason for asking is i currently have one sitting in the garage. Thanks in advance

think the series mcrae uses a prodrive ECU, if so you have a very similar map to the one thats in the Z4.

problem with fitting the Z4 to a uk car is you will get a 112mph speed limit that the jap cars have.

Thanks mate,I will have look tomorrow and see what ecu is in it.If it is a prodrive unit i assume it wil be stamped on it.Is there any way around the 112mph limiter on the ecu on the z4.I know it usually done with a fitment on the speedo cable but i know the uk car are electronically controlled.Cheers

I don't think the McRAE came with the Prodrive ECU as standard, but it was available at the time in the early days of PPP.

If it is a prodrive ECU it should have a Prodrive Label on it, but it may also be worth checkin inside to see if it has a chip fitted in the spare location on the board (bottom right). If no chip is fitted then it will have a 28-pin chip carrier probably with the clear plastic cover still on it.

Back to the Z4 and it will run 12.7psi as opposed to the standard UK 11.47psi
If it is a prodrive ECU/Chip it will run 13.64psi and this actually uses the Z4 base map.

PM me if you want more info, I may be able to source/dig out a suitable chip for your standard ECU. You can then flog-on the Z4

It is in fact a standard ecu with the 28 pin socket inside with the plastic covering on it.No prodrive markings at all.

thats because you have a MPH converter and de-limiter.

these can not be fitted to a uk car as it uses an electronic speedo instead of a cable driven one.
