its not possible to believe other peoples accounts of how much better over standard Andy.F was able to map my car!
(officially my new bestest friend ) LOL

Having tasted the end result though I have to say its true what they say.

I have three settings:
limp home/valet mode at 0.5 bar (which I actually used to do the daily commute this morning and saved a fortune in juice!)
normal mode 1.0 bar (which is actually much quicker than car in previous tune!)
spirited mode 1.35 bar (which is just gorgeous)

credit where its due as well, Andy.F talked me through all the stages of the map session to put my mind at ease, driving to Gatwick has never been that much fun before, and as for the A272 on the way home, well, new strides please

dyno will be in about 4 weeks after my next oil change.
got to the bottom of the gearbox mount as well, Andy.F had rotated the housing slightly and it gave me room to get a bus through there!

happy days!!

total cost kept down with carefull purchasing and a cheeky ability when organising group buys

pleased is about as big an understatement as possible.
went to the meet after I dropped you off and I was like a dog with a pair of wassits!

re: trailor...
(info for others, as we were approaching "a road" to map we saw a collision between a vectra and a tractor/trailor combo, ended up with rear end of trailor in mans car through the windscreen and car being dragged along the road a short way up at a 30degree angle!)

Driver in hospital BUT SURVIVED with minor injuries after they cut the roof from the car to free him.
amazingly (and a testament to Vauxhall!) he appears to have escaped with a night in hospital and a sever case of shock/new pants required.
a miracle I would say. I honestly thought the worst when we saw him bent over the steering wheel.

That I didnt get my DIY inlet fabbed up in time to get it mapped
Still, quick call to the man himself and hopefully we can map it via the commander

Sounds nice mate, sorry to be dumb, but what do the 4 different apexi products do, what is there purpose. I've tried reading up on them, but just wondered what the job of each product is.
Cheers

**apexi pfc ECU**
this is the replacement ECU unit, its this that is mapped.

**apexi commander unit (even plays tetris I think)**
this is a little hand held display that lets me watch whats going on or tinker with the map.

**apexi avc-r EBC**
This is a boost controller (electronic) that lets me watch whats going on or change the boost levels.

**apexi super induction filter**
This is my induction filter, I chose this one because its dry (with my dodgy 99 MAF) and the ECU comes with a preset function for this filtration.

Cheers mate, that has explained more to me than trying to read all the sales talk. How easy is it to tinker with the map and the boost levels, can it cause problems?

if you dont know what your doing then it can cause awfull problems I would think.
when you have the unit mapped for the first time you can talk it through with your mapper.
The only thing I think I am going to change anytime soon is bigger injectors and a new DIY inlet

you can set the avc-r to have three (or four?) different boost levels already programmed in and can switch between them no worries

you do realise once you start you cant stop been to andy's a few times and i dare say there will be more to come if you have had a tek3 ecu before its truely amazing the difference this lot can make with the exact same mods

So is a tek3 better than an Apexi FC? If so in what area(s).
I plan to have Andy do my Sti v3 in the very early new year with stacks of mods already arriving.

DONT (!) leave it to the last minute when fitting your mods for mapping.
I did and twenty minutes before Andy was due I was still under the bonnet

I think Steve is trying to say that the difference between the TEK3 and the Apexi is in favour of the Apexi

Thank god, as I have convinced myself after 'talking' to Andy on the emails that the FC is the right one.
I'm not going to read anymore opinions on the subject!

Thanks, I look forward to mine. David Walace recons on 380 bhp/330 lbft when done. sure hope he's right.

No worries Harvey,
I just wanted to take the time to thank all those who helped me get my car the way it is now.
I always see thanks for companies on here but wanted to thank all the respected tuners who helped me out with free advice and answered my dodgy phone calls at all hours with left over bits in my hands!

ps, Carbon canister now in the bin
