Talking Bleed valves

Has anybody fitted a bleed valve to their car? does it make much difference, is it safe and what is the maximum safe running boost?

The most common/popular type of bleed valve used is the Dawes Device - It can make a huge differences when fitted with supporting mods. Ideally should only be fitted with a Knocklink and an AFR as increasing the boost can cause Detonation problems.

Both the devices are shown HERE there is also a price list. The knocklink gives indication of DET and the AFR (Lambdalink) gives an indication of the Air/Fuel ratio.
The 1st route to take if you haven't already is the exhaust and panel filter with a boost gauge for adjusting the boost when/if a Dawes Valve is fitted.

you will notice the difference, definately.

on my car I used to run a full decat, dawes, KL, afr, uprated panel filter and a boost gauge.
made just under 260 at powerstation with that lot. (uk99)

safe boost level is one where you have no DET and the mixture stays good throughout.
theres also the matter of fuel cut if you havent lifted it yet.
I ran to about 1.1bar on my td04.

remember to keep an eye on the boost gauge because you may need to wind out your dawes when the weather changes or you will get a very close look at your windscreen

If you set your max boost level on a really cold day, that should be ok though shouldn't it?
