Servicing an Idle control valve. Can I do it.
I'm convinced the ICV is causing my problems.
Is there anyway of servicing it? Ive done a search and all I can find is people using brake cleaner on it. I've aleady done that and whilst it worked okish, it didn't do a brilliant job. I think its sticking when cold and warm, but fine when been run for 1/2 hour or so. Could I put oil in it to help on the lub front, so I can make teh BBO at the weekend.

Took mine off at the weekend. It's been causing a fast idle for ages now, tried the solvent trick but no joy so I removed it at the weekend. On my model (believe there's 2 kinds) there was a plastic valve inside that had a lot of light oily grime - came off easy with a cloth and some solvent. Now runs much better - smooth idle again.
p.s. it's an STiv3
p.ps - took half an hour.

I'm running a MY96 sport. When I took it off the spindle was covered in what I took to be carbon. Certianly black grime but fairly dry. Inside the spindle is green if that helps identify it.
I'm just looking for a temp fix to try so I can make Blackpool.
