What do STI8 owners do when in they are unable to get Optimax? It's a bit scarce up north

your right mate , i live way up north and there is only one petrol station for miles that sells Optimax :-(
would it seriously harm the engine using run of the mill unleaded?

lets just say that you would be safer with Optimax. at very least use super, although it will run on 95 ron if you're really stuck.

If you read the information provide by Prodrive, it is mapped on 97RON fuel, or Super Unleaded.

Noooooowwwwww having said that....mine is always fed Optimax

Always feed mine on Optimax, or BP Ultimate at a push (runs like a sack of **** though).

AND I keep Octane Booster in the boot in case I have to use the latter.

Buy a bottle of Nf for the times you have to fill with normal unleaded.

Personally I would much rather use Esso super unleaded than even optimax, and there is no way if not using optimax that I would use BP ultimate. Texaco super runs smoothly and det free too.

You can get away with using 95 as a get you to the next station. Nothin wrong with it so long as you don't use 100% throttle, in fact I would avoid going on to boost if unhappy with my RON rating.

I'll agree with the Esso SUL- it is one of the best, and I'd rather use it than ultimate. if you do have to use some emergency 95, try to just put a fiver in then top it with good stuff as soon as you can, and take it easy in the mean time.

I have also heard that Esso Super unleaded is meant to be good. I personally use Optimax all the time...but Esso would be my next choice I guess!
