Default De-Cat for MY99 UK Turbo PPP?

Hello all,

We are thinking about getting a de-cat for the Scoob, but we're unsure of a few things.

I've searched on Scoobynet, and a few people have said that a de-cat on a car with the PPP ECU isn't good?

Will it affect anything else? What power increase should we be seeing?

And what diffrence in power is there between the resonated / non resonated de-cat?

Hi
I am running full decat on MY00 PPP, also got 57i induction, uprated pump and reg. full h & s non resonated system. I have been running the decat for about 30,000 miles now, no probs. But if you fit an AFR and knocklink it gives you a bit of piece of mind.
DO not follow anyones advice on changing the restrictor, I did and it caused boost loss. As long as you do not drive full throttle all the time it will be OK. I only had a boost spike at WOT in fifth.
My boost went from 16.5psi to 13psi using a drilled out restrictor.
You will find the boost comes in quicker.
Other worth while mod is lightened flywheel, thats one of the best mods Ive done.
Hope this helps

Cool

I'm running a full decat on my MY99 PPP and have had no problems (boost-spiking or otherwise). I just wish I'd done it earlier ;-)

If you don't already have them you will need a boost gauge and knocklink.

I'm not sure about the true power increase but you will notice a lot more shove in the mid-range and the turbo spools up a bit quicker.

Thanks for replying.

Why would I need a knocklink? Would the engine be more likely to knock with the de-cat?

You already have a centre de-cat as part of the PPP.

The down pipe is what releases the power. The knocklink is for safety as much as anything. Although decatting can(not always) increase knock. No probs on mine, but always run optimax fuel.

but he still has a resonator box. a straight through pipe will give you a little more noise.
