Default Decat on standard back section

I have just got hold of a H&S mid/decat pipe and am planning to use it with the standard sti back box and front cat in place.

Has anyone tried this before or have any similar experience/comments on this?

Im wondering if the sti back box will get any louder or will it make little or no difference?

BTW,this is a my99

No much louder but a touch more throaty and maybe a couple of extra pops and bangs should be the result

Dij, is it a UK car or STi?

If its an STi there is no cat in the centre, just a resonator.

Hi mate

I once replaced the OE resonated centre on a MY95 WRX with a straight through pipe on an otherwise std system (my first ever mod over 4 years ago - nostalgic )

Anyway it ticked over a bit deeper and was just slightly louder - nothing attention seeking mind, borderline neglidgable

Im probably going to try this tomorrow so I will post the result up later.

Im hoping for a slightly deeper/throatier (oh yeah deep throat) sound ,so by the sounds of it I should be ok.

DBM,it is an sti 5 exhaust, but I was hoping that the lack of a resonator box would increase the sound a touch.

Thanks alot for the help guys.

Will be a touch louder, but as you know, the fun is in the downpipe

Get rid of the STi back box - its one heavy lump

Thanks for that Mark, but Ive had enough fun with this car already,so Im just gonna stick to simple things and try not to over do it.

I wouldnt mind changing the back section but its in good condition, goes with the car (with the sti logo on the side) and doesnt wake the neighbours.
Im hoping the mid section just makes them turn in their sleep a little.

Well done with the DC2.
Good luck with the new car.

OK,just fitted the mid section and after fiddling a bit, getting pissed off with the original springs/bolts not fitting and the fact that it is nearly touching the body in one place,I can honestly say there is no difference at all.
Perhaps I will notice it in a few days but it deffinately wasnt worth it.

Hopefully it helps to make a difference when I get it mapped.

Oh well,no deep throat for me then.
