Default DIY Pulling CEL Codes

What's the cheapest device I can buy that will let me pull CEL codes and reset ECU for a newage car?

I don't fancy paying a dealer £30 to diagnose/reset a CEL everytime I get one.

Cheers

Mark.

It'll almost pay for itself after 3 CEL's

Anyone know of an even cheaper alternative before I fork out for the one above?

How about sorting out why the car is throwing up CEL codes ?? My dealer never charged me for plugging in their select monitor and advising me on what the problem might be.

I sort of know whats throwing it up (misfire bank3) but this could be caused by 1 of several reasons. I'll be doing a bit of troubleshooting but i need to be able to turn off the CEL to know if I'm getting anywhere.
My dealer never used to charge me either but on my last visit I got stung for £30 - Don't want to have to rely on them just to turn CEL off @ £30 a go.

connect the black + green connectors to do a reset - should stop the CEL until it happens again!

Mark.

If anyone else is looking for an OBD2 scanner, I bought this one for £36 and can confirm it works with the Newage Scoobs. I have read & reset CEL codes from ECU several times - obviously a laptop is required.

Hmm..
Makes my Delta Dash look a bit pricey.
All you need now is a program to calculate acceleration from gearing/tyres/weight/frontal area and you have a rolling rd.

I think digimoto software might do that - maybe I'll give it a try.
