Smile How many Keys from New

This might sound really stupid but hear me out!

How many keys should an Impreza come with as standard (T to X classic). The normal 2 sets or is there a 3rd master key as Alfa Romeos have/had to reset ECU etc.

The reason I ask is that I am looking for an Impreza (first one) and did have an Alfa, after buying said Alfa I found out that to replace 3rd key cost 1500 pounds car was bought with only 2 sets of keys as you would expect.

Simple answer if you know but I don't know myself!!

Thanks in advance

When I got my new MY00 I was issued with two sets of keys and two alarm fobs. Got an RB5 now and it's the same two keys and two key fobs.

Hope this helps, Phill

Mine only had 2 as well (MY00).

£1500 for a replacement...?!

Fortunately, there's no need for a master key to reset the scoob ECU. Although the bug eye onwards can't be done in the same way as the classics...

I know I was shocked when the Alfa garage told me. Basically it is not an issue until something goes wrong with the ECU. If you don't have the original master 3rd key (1995 M reg - I think they have changed this for newer cars) then they couldn't/wouldn't replace it and the cost was 1500 for a new ecu.

It was also expensive for people who used this master key as they would a normal key as it has a life 100 times. 101 = a big bill Apparently!!

Aye, you're not wrong... probably also explains why most of their cars start to fall apart after the warranty expires (and some before...!)
