Default Co2 air cooling system, looks cool.

Take a look, what do you think? worth it or not.

Obviously a seperate map would be needed to take full advantage but how much more power could you get with the temp of the air so low, are we talking a few bhp or lots?

inital reaction would be - if you gonna add all that piping, might as well add NOX rather than this.....

ive been looking at a similar thing with respect to the intercooler.
Ive thought about ducting cool air from the front but keep meeting with obstacles so this seemed a good alternative.
a cryogenic kit with tank and remote solenoid costs about £350, you can add *modules* on to this for intercooler (£80) fuel rail and air intake which will reduce charge temps by a fair amount, all good news.
(prices by demon-tweeks)

however £500 seems steep for all the gubbins to run so Ive been looking at diy

I reckon a tank with co2 would be in the region of £100.
(divers tank second hand? filled at a local gas supply centre for peanuts)
manual turn on/off so no extra cost there and a simple harness with nozzles could be had by using thin gauge pipe with sti watersparay nozzles (£9 each from scoobyworld and others).
the only part that im struggling with is the remote action down by the steering wheel.
need either a toggle for on/off or even better a button that when pushed gives a 3sec burst straight onto the top of the i/c.

this would be most usefull when sat in traffic, to avoid heat-soak or at least reduce it a quick blast before pulling away would be the ticket.
of course it would be usefull to have a manual override to allow continuous use when going down the strip/ round the track

(I have had another idea as well about a simple mechanism to draw the co2 over the i/c when activated )

I'll go fishing for prices today but cant see too many obstacles to this one.

A simple time circuit could be made up to control a solenoid valve to open for a set number of seconds, the time period could also be variable.

How much are solenoid valves and what about the pipework from the rear of the car? Let us know you fishing results Peanuts.

Ill look into the hardware side of things if you can try to draw up a simple (?!) circuit diagram then Ill also get a price for that.

pipe work could just be braided line with some Mikalor clamps I thought, or possibly some samco line with clamps.

Talking

Here is a 'one shot' timer circuit. Cost will be peanuts! hahahahhaha, sorry couldn't resist.

The output on time can be adjusted by a variable resistor and the output will need to go to a small solid state relay which would allow 12v from the car battery to power the solenoid.

What the price of a Co2 solenoid thingy nowdays?

so far have come up with:

http://www.kegworks.com/shoppingcart...19e4e17042b17f
http://www.onboardair.com/tanks.htm

awaiting response from UK supplier with multiple discount potential

the cryogenic bottle alone is £175 empty so if we can get one for about £60/80 then its money well saved.

now, for the solenoid???
