Unhappy exhaust problems, HELP!

just wondering if you could offer some advice?

i have a 53 reg impreza wrx

i have had an HKS silent exhaust fitted. i had a downpipe fitted taking both the cats off. The car was running ok for a while but when it was idoling and the fan kick in to cool the engine it started sending quite a bit of smoke out of the tail pipe.

any ideas as to why this is happening?

the original exhaust is on now and it is fine with that on.

thanks for any feedback.

When I originally had my downpipe decat I had a few times when there was serious amounts of smoke, so much so I was towed back home and was told it was probably a blown turbo. The smoke was so bad it was like a heavy wet bonfire! After a few days at the dealer they said it was fine, and it was. I had a few less bad instances but following the next service it was all fixed - I suspect that something had been done wrong and they'd fixed it. Been fine ever since and still don't know what it was, that was 30k+ back. This doesn't help you much, sorry!

you have to use release oil (or similar) to get the downpipe (and other exhaust components) off the car. it inevitably goes eveywhere. when it burns off it smokes like crazy
