What is the best aftermarket ECU for the new age STI 04/05
Like the topic says. What is the best aftermarket ECU or remap when tuning a STI MY04/05?
There are several brands on the market lika AEM, Motec, Autronic and the EcuTek.
EcuTek must be the best thing to do to the car because all other have their own harness that needs to be rewired etc = Easier to put back as original with the EcuTek.
Many of my friends has AEM on their cars and they work real great, but it takes time to get a real good map.
I have read a lot now on different tuners websites about the EcuTek. And even searched here. What´s the difference between all the stages? Some call them stage 1, 2 and 3? I thought that it is the same hardware just the parameters the companies tweaks in. Am I right?
What would the performance be on a STI with cat back, front mount IC, and a EcuTek? Is it still possible to use for example a separate EBC with EcuTek?
Many questions in one post :-)
Regards
J

ECUtek
Hi
ECUtek mapping takes place on the OEM ECU, the one the car came with. Only available for (99 ?? ) 2000 on cars.
So no new hardware, just a remap for your existing hardware.
Tek 2 so called, is an off the shelf generalised map for no / low level of mods, say air filter and maybe exhaust.
Tek 3 is a full custom remap of your individual car / mods, and will only work at its best for your car / engine & mods. BUT will be really good for your setup!
Hard to go back to standard I guess, as it would need the original map re entering ( unless this is saved as a backup on the ecu ??? Doubt it though! ).
Many companies in England do Tek maps, maybe look at ECUTek website?
I Think XTremescoobies do them, Powerstation, BRD, and others.
