Rattle at 2,500RPM onwards?
Hi all,
Today on the way home from work, i noticed a rattle at 2,500rpm onwards when i accelerate, which then dissapears or lessens considerably when i take my foot off the accelerator. It is difficult to tell where it's coming from, but i think it's the front. Opening the window only drowns it out with wind noise. When i'm stationary, the noise is lesser, and i can't hear it when i look under the bonnet. Any ideas?
MY99 UK Turbo with aircon & 46,000 miles.
Cheers,
Daz
PS, It's a sort of diesel engine rattle.

Possibly ( but not probably! ) heat shield or, if mine is anything to go by, the bearing in the tensioner on the aircon belt. If it only happens with the aircon on, the latter's a safe bet......I had my aircon retro fitted by the main dealers on my MY00, and it's had four of these pulleys replaced in 8 months because of excessive bearing noise.
