HELP CRANK PULLEY
The outer crank pulley seems to have been spinning on the shaft and the woodruff key has machined the inside of the pulley making the pulley hole oval thus the pulley is woobling , how do i change the woodruff key , do i have to take the cam belt off and crank cam pulley to change key as it has done it once before and i only changed the outer pulley last time ,left the original woodruff key in and just pulled it up very tight with lock tight am surprised it has slipped again .
Also does anyone have a spare outer crank pulley wheel and woodruff key for a 93 wrx ?
thanks
Mark

AFAIR,you will have to remove the belt to get the w key out.
I have a crankshaft pulley and key,PM me if you need it.
Too late now,but it should have been done properly the first time and not with locktite.
Hopefully no damage has been done to the crankshaft.

Is the woodruff key just for locating the pulleys or is it meant to stop the pulleys from spinning as if the later would not a splined shaft have been better, what torque should the pulley bolt be pulled up to ?

Not sure on torque settings.
The splined shaft would probably be alot better IMO,but there are probably other potential problems with this idea.Perhaps its designed with the key for easier removal? ...not sure coz it can still be a pig to get off.
Ive seen the problem youve had with Honda engines.
BTW,alot of other engines (Most Jap engines ive seen) have this system,so there must be a good reason.
