Question Does nobody bother with a VF23 turbo these days?

When I fitted a VF23 to my car a couple of years ago it was the thing to have for a good compromise between power and (reasonably) early spool up. Obviously, things have moved on since then and the td05 now seems to be the favourite and I hardly ever hear the VF23 mentioned. Is the td05 really that much better and would it be worth my while to change?

Not worth changing IMHO as there is only about a 10% difference between them.

More news yet or not ? I mean the people who experienced the difference between the VF23 and the TD05.

TD05 allows for a fair bit more boost in the midrange giving more torque, and it has a slight edge on the top, but as JB said, nothing massive.

I do prefer the front entry td05-16g of the "sane" alternatives for the 2 litre engine, a decent spool point, and a very nice midrange (not a good thing for 3rd gear, but you can't have everything can you?).

I think what JB means is if you already have a VF23 then its not worth changing it as difference is only about 10%.

If however you were deciding what turbo to put on from scratch or as a replacement the TD05 is a stronger and more robust turbo than the VF23.
