Default Whirring/whining noise from rear

I have a noise comming from the rear and it gets louder with speed but eventually gets its loudest at 60mph.There on its not as audiable due to the other noises ie wind, road, engine etc.

My guess is a wheel bearing or diff judging by the frequency that these items are asked for,but Im not sure whats the best way to check.
Anyone heard of the propshaft centre bearing becoming faulty?

Anyone have any helpfull tips or suggestions (apart from take it to a specialist).

Thanks in advance

BTW,its a my99 turbo

I had a similar noise with my WRX 03. The fix was to fit a new rear diff.
