well, decat downpipe and centre would be a good start, I got mine form scoobynet for just over a ton (d-pipe) and from halfords (centre - magnex £50).
you could adjust the dawes up to 1.15 bar with the addition of AFR meter {j-w-racing} and knocklink {BRDevelpments} and a boost gauge .
your right about the big gains being (possibly) prohibitively costly.
Apexi ecu - about £500 -700 depending on age and source
map for above £200 ??
apexi boost controller - about £250
set up for above £50??
fmic - about £1500 when alls said and done? new filter and DV req'd?

my advice is get the knocklink, afr and boost gauge sharpish before going any further.
then you can have a play with the dawes which will keep you amused for another few weeks.

Get a VOS chip. I just got one and I'm pretty happy with it.

It will:

1) tune your car for UK fuel
2) Give you a better AFR
3) raise you fuel cut to 18.5psi
4) raise your boost to 16psi
5) remove your 180 km/h speed limiter

Get them from Adrian Vos in Australia, cost is around 150 quid all in. Took 5 days to get to the UK once he had received my money.

I'm running a TD04 in my car so I had to use a dawes to stop it from overboosting at low rpm, but yours should be better with it's TD05. And you have a dawes so thats no problem.
