is the same as on later dash models.
and is the switch from in dash same.

also is second radiator fan just an extra one identical to single .

reason i ask is i am fitting air con, can get hold of dash parts but from earlier model.
and already have a spare rad fan in garage.

Heater matrix wont fit, they are completly different, although on saying that you *may* be able to fit the evaporator into the later model matrix (you only need to remove the glove box, and remove the 4 bolts, and one cable holding the matrix in place (I have both units at home)

Switch in the dash is completly different, as the heater controls are completly different too

The Rad fan is also different (one has 4 blades, one has five) other than the blades I dont know what else is different

You will also need all the relays (additonal 3)

Compressor, Exchanger/Dryer, Condensor, and all the pipes are different

BUT you may be able to fit earlier air con to later cars, but with the later matrix

How much does it cost to retro-fit (assuming you do the work yourself)?

If you do it yourself it costs nothing for fitting only the re-gas costs (between 40-80 quid depending on where you go

Obviously sourcing the parts is or can be a pain

I have listed on another thread all the bits you need (not year dependant) the main thing is that you have ALL of the bolts & fixings etc, and the pipes/compressor/exchange-dryer/condensor from the same model, and then the relevant heater matrix/evaporator for your car

On yet another thread i put a link up to the full installation instructions

Silver Sonic, the I have both units at home, meant I have my old heater matrix (MY00) minus the evaporator, and a full matrix unit from an older car (including evaporator)

I also have all the pipes/condensor/exchanger-dryer from a 95 WRX

It has cost me in total approx 300 quid all in including re-gassing

and about 3 hours to install everything, what took the most time was sourcing all the right parts, and buying all the bolts/belt etc from the dealers

I think you are paying for labour too, as it takes approx an hour
then there is compressor oil, and dye needed too

Not saying this justifies the price in anyway tho

Plus my next door neighbour did mine, as he is an air con specialist
