MY00 tmic upgrade?
Probably somewhere on here, but I`ve done a search and can`t find owt.
I`m looking to upgrade without too much cost/hassle, basically a tmic that`ll replace the original while using the mounts, dv and hoses I have.
Is this possible?
Perhaps a P1, Sti6 ??
Neil.

Sti5 on mine, ( also MY00 ) straight swap, slightly larger chamber, better pipework, less pressure drop. Doesn't make the slightest difference to temps, though! Anything larger means different brackets/d/valve, and/or minor alterations to bulkhead, clutch reservoir. Got an 02 wrx i/c to try now, just need brackets, d/valve etc......

I Use an APS TMIC, 2.5x the core volume or the standard one IIRC. Noticable difference in AIT's straight away. £550 (I think) from G-force.
Fits right in place of original (just), it has on different bracket to fit it, which is included. If you use the standard y piece it fits straight on, or you have to grind down a lug if you want the aluminium y piece.
Dave.

Ive got an sti5 tmic with the alloy y piece and samco hoses for both coolent and turbo.
the temp drop in my case is noticeable becasue the needle sits at the bottom of the wavey lines on the temp gauge.
I can whole heartedly recommend this approach as it was cheap, instantly fitted (by me) and the results were visable straight away.
