Lamba Sensor

Lamba Sensor
Currently having a problem with my MY00 PPP, where the boost seems to cut in late and all of a sudden between 3 / 4 thousand RPM (boost guage , and fuel ecomony is worse than usual!! Having done a bit of a search it seems that the Lamba Sensor could be failing. Does this sound right?
Assuming it is, are these cheap to replace, and is the job a DIY one???
Thanks
Pete

not sure if its the lambda failing or not, but could possibly be the Maf sensor
Lambda is around 120 quid from a main dealer, Maf (sensor only) is around 75 quid from a dealer
When my lambda was failing, my car drove fine, and came on boost fine, it was just lacking in performance, but as it had degraded over a period of time, I hadnt really noticed until I drove behind another scoob, and couldnt keep up (same mods as me at the time)

Cheers sonic,
Had the MAF changed a month or so back.
The car is OK, just seems unresponsive and it needs to be 'forced' along instead of previously it would accelerate alot more eagerly at medium boost...

Could be lambda then, difficult to test really without Delta Dash/AFR Gauge or a passenger willing to look at a multimeter attached to the lambda wires whilst you drive on WOT
I found it easier just to change the Lamdba, job sorted

the only thing with the Halfords Lambdas, is that the connectors are different, and that you have to chop it off, and chop off the OE connector and join them up
You cant solder the wires either, as they are stainless
