BEST WAY TO WRAP HEADERS
#3
Yeah, that might be me in this one off instance!
Right, well, the way I did this was to wet the wrap ...don't soak it, wet enough for it to be pliable will do....this also helps stop it from shedding its dust on you ( itchy stuff ). I also used the " proper ", made for the job ties that Demon Twinkies sell, expensive, but effective. Try to leave a good half inch or so overlap, and try to avoid getting wrinkles as you wrap it....it's time consuming, but possible, and will help it to last longer. I used a metal tie wrap every 6 inches or so, as I felt it would hang together longer if it was secured at regular short intervals. Then I sprayed it with VHT paint, to stop it getting contaminated with oil, etc, which will, I believe, cause it to gradually fall apart. If you are looking for a recommendation for makes of wrap, I think the stuff I used is made by Cooltek, also available from Demon Tweeks. No probs with it so far.

Sorry about the delay in the reply but I've been away.......
Mine are sprayed in some heat resistant / water repellant paint which seems to stop the clouds of steam.
I remember a thread on scoobynet a couple of months ago. I'll have a look in "search" in a minute after the 85 unread e-mailswhich seem to be in my in-box.....
