Default What are the best shocks???

Hey all

I took my car in for a service and they said my shocks are gonners.
My car is bouncing up and down more than a basketball .... hehe
They want to replace with standard shocks but its not that cheap
so I thought what are my alternatives?

Whats a good shock?

What price range am I looking at?

I thought since im have to replace them, I might as well get whole kit and lower my car. But then I have to roll the arches dont I (17 inch wheels my98)???

Is there any downsides to lowering the car? I know that the handling improves with a lowered suspension if done properly.....

thanks

leeps
