Fuel pump for a MY99

Will a fuel pump out of an 02STI fit (and work in) a MY99 classic.

you could poss get it to fit, but the fittings are out of line from classic to new-age..........................why not just get the correct one??

So I guess a Walbro fuel pump for a MY01 WRX will not fit a MY00. Is that correct?
