1.2 bar peak I assume? MY99/00 PPP runs pretty aggressive timing to start with, but assuming stock headers I guess the ecu/knock sensor is correcting OK. However, my guessing probably (hopefully) wont help you much.....
If it's only peak, then I guess your stock maps will be OK from a fuelling perspective, timing is still a bit advanced though, and is the main concern. Best get it checked by a professional - it is possible to run 1.35 bar peak on the stock PPP with decat (oh, plus uprated fuel pump) setup (on 98ron fuel) without significant issues. Every car is different though........consider a knocklink....but only one that has been verified with det cans.

You can get boost spikes with the MY99/00 PPP ECU, but this can be cured by replacing the restrictor (or drilling the original one out).
As Richard said all cars are slightly different and not everyone has reported problems decatting a PPP'd car.
I just stuck my knocklink to the dash just behine the steering wheel, so there's no real need to drill the dash board. You could always fit it to an A-pillar pod and drill that instead.
