Default Cranksfaft Oil Seal

I have an MY00 Turbo uk and had a crankshaft oil seal changed at the weekend. It wasn't leaking bad but is this unusual for a this car with 29k miles?

I replaced mine after it had worked it's way out of position and wore a hole through it off the cambelt pulley. Dumping oil on very hot exhaust and catching fire! But it worked itself loose again! Discovered a huge amount of end float in the crankshaft which was pushing it out. Now enignie in many bits waiting for gasket kit to put it back together with uprated big end bearings.

Aparrently a common problem but no-one seems to have actually dealt with it!
