Angry Where to start?

Car has GEMS ECU fitted,

When I take my foot of the accellerator it idles at 1500rpm for 15-30 seconds then drops back to 1000rpm, Oh, and running rich as **** - When I'm sitting in traffic and blip the throttle, little coughs of black smoke and the exhaust is as black as a hens ****. Any ideas - fcuked sensor? poorly mapped? Normal?

Also on quite a few occasions now - she wont rev pas 2500 - 4000 without spluttering/Kangarooing/missing in all gears. ??!

I'm sick of the ******* thing!

Has the car been modded since it was mapped?

Who mapped it by the way?

I had GEMs fitted last week... overall i'm pretty happy... but have also had the occasional missing/spluttering (lasts for about a minute or so and then all is fine - not very usefull in traffic!)

No mods since it was done by Steve Simpson about 2 weeks ago. I was stuck on a round about for about 10mins the other day - very embarrassing!

Aye aye yak! did you fit higher heat rated plugs before the re-map? just a shot in the dark.
Maybe even bung some octane booster in and see what happens?????

Ahe-up Nethy! Plugs weren't changed! I'll try them - I have been running octane booster though! What plugs are recommended?

Crank it!

If they`re standard they`ll probably be NGK6`s, which i reckon wont be up to it what with the GEMS and all that. I`ve got NGK8`s in mine, but some people say NGK7`s will be ok. (Bob Rawle recommended 8`s to me), got them from -

http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk
and more specifically -
http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/p...riceer-zgr.htm

The part no. of the 8`s was R7235-8 but i`ve just had a look at the site and they dont make em anymore, the part no. for the 'new' 8`s is R7435-8 but it appears they dont sell em yet!
The part no. for the 7`s is PFR7B, part code is 4853.

Do a swift search just to make sure i`ve not got it all wrong with PFR7B`s, but i`m sure they`re the ones to use if you go for 7`s.

Set plug gaps to 0.7mm and it is fairly easy to change em yourself, just dont ask me to do it! lol

I'll give the plugs a try. The GEMS does away with the Lambda sensor so it wont be that.
