Now i don't know if you guys can have the german magazine SPORT AUTO...
but they have a monthly feature called "supertest", and it deals with testing high performance cars against a suitable competitor in the following circumstances

1. laptime and handling on the nurburgring
2. laptime and handling on the short version hockenheimring (stadiumsection)
3. 0 - 200km/h - 0
4. windtunneltest (with pictures and values!)
5. maximum g in cornering
6. slalom 36m
7. elk-test 110m

in april the STI 04 with RE070! was put up against the EVO VII !!!
SCOOB // (EVO)
1. 8.24m // (8.25)
2. 1.17,9m // (1.18,2m)
3. 31s // (27.1s)
4. F -52kg B +12kg // (-37kg -8kg) at 200kmh
5. 1.2g // (1.1g)
6. 130kmh // (124kmh)
7. 133kmh // (133kmh)

overal the scoob came out the winner!!!! and the tires made a whole new car out of it! RE040 rubbish... RE070top!
for example: around the 'ring an STI with RE070 was 8.24m.... same car and driver with RE040 was 8.32m(inutes)!!!!! (they always do these test with the same driver behind the wheel (Horst Von Saurma: held several lap records at the ring...) to get as objective a test as possible.
What struck me was the difference between the STI and EVO at 200km/h (+/-125Mph)... 21.5 seconds for the EVO... 24.5 seconds for the scoob! that is a massive difference! Goes to show that this sort of figures does not mean a whole lot on a cirquit!

but, in regard to the high new age STI spoiler: it does indeed create ample amount of downforce! 12kg of downforce at 200kmh compaired to 8kg of lift with a compairable spoiler on the EVO7, both measured at the rear-axle
(front was 50kg lift against 33kglift BTW)

So, the rear spoiler on the scoob does seem to be effective!

Interesting stuff that, esp the rear spoler stuff. Mitsi have introduced an optional venturi generator to improve the effectiveness of the wing this year in Japan...
