Question Vin Plate codes / model variations

Hi,
What do all the codes mean on the VIN plate? My car is JDM MY01 STI, I think it is a GL but not sure and generally interested in what the codes mean. The bloke I bought the car off said it was 300BHP but the brochures say 280, are there 280 and 300 power models or is it a case of in Japan they declare 280 and come with 300ish?
The car does not have DCCD was this an option or only on a different model?

Is there any good sources for model information on the new age cars, SIDC does not appear to the newer models.

Picture of my VIN on the link below:

Thanks,
Paul.

Check out

http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm#2.1

There is some info in the Specifications section. Not sure if this is upto date though

Cheers

Yeah, I checked out the SIDC but the specs section is classic model only.

Thanks,
Paul.
