Unhappy knocklink

Could someone tell me where the best place is to put the sensor for my knocklink on an MY95 WRX. I have put it in using one of the holes in the block but when the engine is running I get only the first green one faintly. The second green does light but only when I start the car. As far as I know it is on full sensitivity as the dial is turned full round clockwise. I hope you guys can help as I don't want anything going bang.

Does it light up when u tap the block/bolt?
Where have u put the sensor? on the block under the ic?
Is it just the dim green light all way up rev range?

Yes I did the test by tapping the bolt with a spanner and it lit up to the ambers. I have bolted the sensor in the hole which is on the block inbetween the pipe which comes off the intercooler into the manifold and the sensor (MAP I think).

So that proves the sensor and display are working correctly.

I have bolted the sensor in the hole which is on the block inbetween the pipe which comes off the intercooler into the manifold
If it's located as in the picture below, then it's in the correct location.

I have the same problem......
If you've located the sensor in the same location, and you've successfully done the "tap" test, then yes, you do have the same problem... but personally, I wouldn't have thought that "working perfectly" is a problem...

I have been wondering about mine (95 JDM wrx wagon)
I only get the occasional green flicker when starting
I only get the very occasional 2 green flicker when flooring it and only at higher revs.
I was expecting more as I accidently filled up with normal unleaded and its an import.
using optimax it stays silent.

Is there anyone with det cans that would be able to verify that im not getting det ?
Nice to think im not getting det,but im also paranoid

Make sure the sensitivity is fully clockwise. Have you tried the tap test? I can ususally get my ambers to light when firing her up in the morning. A good test without having to get under the bonnet...!

Talking

From what I can tell by the picture it is the same position though I will double check as I think that the engine in the picture is a post 96 model and mine is an MY95.I do get 2 two greens when I start the car but then nothing so I hope you guys are right and I have got a non-det engine. Thanks for your help I will post my findings at the weekend ( wheather permitting).

I checked the position and it looks right and I also changed the sparkpulgs and they looked normal so it looks like I have a perfect running engine.
