Default Anyone done this?.....

.....and is it working? I've got an 01 onwards WRX i/c to go on my MY00, just trying to source a standard 01 d/valve and the 01 bracketry etc. Anyone know if it's worth the effort or am I wasting my time? All knowledgeable opinions valued!

I was looking at doing this to an my99 - I asked a similar question and only got one reply. I think the general opinion is that if you can do it you will see an improvement as the newer i/c's are bigger. I have now decided that if I do this I would be better going for an STI 5 or 6 intercooler with the Y-pipe they go straight on

Yeah, I've already done that, and it is better than standard, but I've got my grubby mitts on a later i/c now, and just wondered if the difference would make the hassle of acquiring the WRX brackets and d/valve worth the aggro really. Sti5 one does seem to work better ( less pressure drop ) imo., but my aim is to try to significantly reduce intake temps, without resorting to a fmic, or butchering the bulkhead/moving reservoirs etc, which I believe is required to fit an sti7 i/c. If I fit the WRX i/c, I may have an sti5 one for sale...watch this space!
