Default MAF sensor failure. What are the symptoms?

I have a UK MY97 turbo, basically standard. Just fitted an induction kit and not sure if it's mere coincidence but the car now has a tendency to occasionally misfire somewhat (seems like petrol starvation). Mind you it could be the plugs cos they haven't been looked at in ages.

Suitable comments (to put my mind at ease) would be most welcome.

If it is a MAF failiure then an ECU reset will make the tickover more erratic.
Failiure is more common on the 99/00 cars though

If it's MAF then change it ASAP otherwise risk to break your engine (at worst case)!

what you tend to get is a increse in performance and better fuel econamy...

as you dont get a error till it fails better off getting it tested and the voltages checked.
