Legacy B4 tiptronic problem

Legacy B4 tiptronic problem
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the following problem.............with a possible fix....please
I have a Legacy B4 280PH auto tiptronic and the gear changes intermittently have become severely clunky........also is the power light starts to flash.
Once up to 4th gear and cruising it is fine but plays tricks changing up and down gears for no reason between 3000 - 4000 rpm.
I am guessing it is something to do with the AT module......Speed sensor maybe? ECU?............ any help would be greatly appreciated

Kiwi,
Do you have any CEL codes?
Go here for ECU fault codes and how to get them.
C.E.L Codes
3-4k is priamry boost territory, so depending on levels of boost, the box may just change down/up.
How is it in 'manual' mode?

There doesnt seem to me a fault showing. The check engine light doesnt come on.
It has problems in tiptronic also.......gear selection indicator doesnt show a number just a line and you hear a beeping noise.
Stupped.......

Only had the car for 6 weeks. The speedo chip was faulty but it has been replaced..........power light flashing and strange gear change happenings have been present since the first chip gave up?
As the CEL isnt on at all what do you reckon? reset the ECU?

Mark,
As the CEL isnt on at all just the Power light flashing what now?
The problem isnt happening all the time but it is a bit of a concern when driving at motorway speeds and the box changes down to 3rd without any call from the accelerator.
Scratch head........tilt to one side and puff!

Code 38 is linked to the g/box, which IMO will probably have something to do with up/down changes.

If you plug the 2 black connectors together, the CEL light should atleast flash a constant code, if the ECU has no problems registered.
If there's a problem, a code will be displayed, long fash for 1st numeric, short for 2nd numeric.

Kiwi,
That good news from the engine side of things
Hunting like mad to find any info on TCM proceedures, coming up short at the moment.
Only stuff I can find is for non-triptronic.
Try here, maybe worth a shot.
SVX FAQ's
Under transmission.
If I find anything I'll let you know

Mark,
Tried the SVX transmission diagnosis but it doesnt work for the Tiptronic.
Thanks for your help so far. Not sure how to proceed now. Will a dealers diagnosis tool pick up anything if the CEL isnt on?
Cheers

I dont see why a dealer can't read the ECU but I'm sure there is a way of getting a code reading from the AT ECU useing another plug for the AT like there is one for the airbags
