Default Why would this happen???

Posted sometime ago now with an ongoing slight stutter/misfire problem. Well finally got round today to whippin the plugs out to check the gaps and discovered that all 4 coilpacks are cracked with one so bad the plastic end almost came off in my hand! So 4 new uns on monday , but....

since fitting my boost guage 6 weeks ago i've noticed the car steadily peaks to 14psi momentarily then settles at 12. Normal in other words so why on refitting everything associated with plug removal(nothing else touched)is the bloody thing now boosting away to 15/16 and hitting what I can only presume is fuel cut as it trys hurling me out the windscreen!!!

Any help appreciated, it probably is me been a spoon.
Cheers

Ritchie.

Check all the hoses you have removed especially the small boost control hoses have been refitted, and also refitted onto the correct connectors. It sounds like the boost control soliniod or the waste gate actuator on the turbo has not been reconnected correctly or the hose is damaged ie trapped or holed.

Do you want to sell your old coils as I need the wireing and multi plugs to connect my Bosch coils to the engine wireing loam.

Cheers Colin.

Hi Ritchie,

The bosch coils are only avaiable from OZ, they are not direct replacement. The best way to describe them is like a traditional coil fitted with a distrubtor etc, but you have 1 per cylinder and then a plug lead goes from the Bosch coil direct to the spark plug.

If you pm me about your old coils when you have got your replacements.

Colin.

Took it to the local independant specialist yesterday. He reckons that what I described is common and not a massive prob. His advice was to replace the one coilpack that is cracked the worst and get new rubber ends for the other 3. At £65 each before VAT I'm gonna try his method first and if that don't sort it i'll have to do the lot.
Found some interesting info on here about how to check a CP with a multimeter so will do that too when they are out.

I don't suppose just one is any use too you? Obviously i'll let you know if I do the others.
Cheers
Ritchie.
