Default Gizzmo ECU's...

Has anybody ever had any dealings with these ecu upgrades, really thinking of getting one...

Gizzmo ECU

Works out £162 + shipping, so could be good bang for buck...

What does everyone think.

Regards,

John.

Just got this reply from them guys...

qoute:

Hi,

the U8 ECU upgrade is socketed to the main PCB in the ECU and therefore
requires a soldering iron and solder sucker at the very least. We would
strongly recommend getting a TV repair shop or similar to do the
instillation. We firstly require information with regards to what
modifications have already been made to your vehicle, and what octane you
run it on in order to be able to tailor it to your requirements. To date we
haven't any UK distributors, would you be able to suggest a chain store that
import owners would be open to using? We have heard of Demon Tweaks, have
they got a good image there?

Thanks for your inquiry,

I'm gonna reply to them in the morning when i'm a bit more coherent...!!!

Thats where scoobyecu shines as you do'nt need a soldering iron etc.

Yes you do if the standard ecu hasn't got the socket in there.... which appears to be mostly jap imports. However Paul and David will solder in the socket on request.

UK cars have the socket soldered in, jap dont.

PPP and sti cars allready have a chip soldered direct to the board so forget it for those.

Also remember jap import 5dr cars have a td04..

Yes, I have one in my 95 WRX STI RA V2, pushed straight in no soldering. Had no problems with it so far ,fuel cut is raised and I haven't hit it yet, but recommend a boost controller, runs on 97 ron fuel currently running at 1.24bar (18psi) well Happy.Just waiting for my Knocklink on the group buy, just to see if its running safe and maybe raise boost a bit more.

Sounds good! due to scoobyecu being hard to purchase, but does your CEL light stay on as it does when a VOS chip is used? also is 18psi more than the scoobyecu is mapped for????

I doubt the fuel cut will work if it's set to run 18psi.
They have probably set the fuel cut value to 'FF', so it will never activate. As this works out to be 24.92psi.

Anything much above 17.5psi on the standard map sensor is beyond it's working limits.
Thats why I always set the fuel-cut to 17.5psi on ScoobyECU's and ran them at either 15.5psi of 16.42psi.

I found regardless to what you set the Fuel cut to once the map sensor had reached 17.2psig(4.93v) with its output fully saturated the cut would initiate.

Default Gizzmo ECU

Hi Nick-O-Teen

I also have a Gizzmo Chip installed in my STi V2 and the car is a JAP Import, ECU had a STi chip in it which I removed and pushed the Gizzmo into the socket, all limits removed.
However I am not sure what the spark plug gaps should be set at as my cars seems to cut off when I run higher boost levels.
I have the NGK Plats which I had set to 1.1 which was standard but am now told that I should set it lower... IDEAS ???

Thanks
SanMan

0.7mm is prolly the optimum gap

Sanman, sounds like your gap is a bit big 0.7 is the norm, as for your ecu it sounds like it already had some kind of performance chip fitted in the first place? as I didn't have to remove anything to fit my Gizzmo chip just a push fit in the spare socket. Do you have the j1 resistor cut on the ecu board, if not you could still be hitting the factory boost and fuel cut limit.
