Default Programmable STI 7 ECU (camshaft control)

Does anybody know if GEMS make a programmable ECU for the STI 7 that supports the camshaft control? I emailed them yesterday but havent got a response so far...

I wanted to buy a Motec M800, but Motec can only ship on Wednesday (I'd like to have the ECU before that). They are also insanely expensive (about £2600 for the OEM replacement board with a few options), but that's not the problem right now.

Yes they do.

Richard at GEMS can be a little slow in replying - try Steve Simpson (07836635001)

Thank you. I found the answer in their product guide in the mean time .

I did not find information on the processor(s), the map resolution etc, though. Do you have a technical datasheet for the STI ECU Implant? Any idea how good the camshaft control is? Also, it doesnt list any auxiliairy inputs on their site for this ECU Implant?

Don't forget you need to buy the software as well (if they will sell it).

Not much been done with that version afaik, you would be better with the Motec M800 if you can afford, worth waiting for.

Hi Rob

I intend to buy the software as well. It is for sale for £200 (retail), £300 with logging.

What do you mean with "not much been done with that version"? that you havent used it much or tht it's crap?

I can afford an M800, but it's a bit OTT for a lightly modded STI7. The thing is: there is no way I am going to keep the std ECU, it's total crap, ignition all over the place, funny compensations and what not, but you know that better than I do anyway...

So what do you know about the GEMS implant? 20 x20 maps like the PowerFC? More, less?

The M800 is the daddy, but it's twice the price, and the PowerFC isnt available for the STI 7

What would you put on an STI7 to make it alright?
