Default Low Boost readings

Hi Guys,

Following the sale of my scooby I am currently running a 220Turbo coupe (Rover). Lately I have been getting a low PSi reading. The car should be running at around 7PSi but I am only getting a reading around 4PSi!!!

I have done all the obvious checks i.e. air leaks in the pipes, checked the Baileys dump valve, ran the car without the D/V and on the standard recirculating dump valve etc. with no success.

I was then informed that a blocked catalytic convertor could be restricting flow and therefore restricting the amount of boost. Could a dodgy cat have this effect on the car???

In my limited experience, yes.

My car had a small hole in the exhaust and the cat in the downpipe was screwed.

Serverley hampered the performance of the car - it was so hesitant and didn't feel smooth at all.

Felt much better after having the cat out and a new piece of steel for the exhaust.

Just incase anybody is interested, I had a de-cat fitted this morning and it has solved everything

The car now runs at 7PSi in standard form and with the Greddy Boost controller active I now have 8PSi in low boost and 13PSi in High boost.

I am one happy man
