Post For anyone interested in power increase on a sti 8 uk

The story starts from buying the car from new with the PPP fitted but i was never happy with the car (Boost all over the place) Not only did it read on the boost guage i could feel it so much it got to me in the end so i sold the PPP and went for the below.

Phase 1 of my car which has the below fitted.

Sti 8 uk

Hks Hyper 3"
Janspeed Downpipe 3" (Lagged)
Sti Panel filter
F.S.E Fuel pump
Tek 3 with 3-port boost solinoid

Mapped by Bob Rawle (BR Developments)

Rolling Road (G-Force)

Figures = 332.3 BHP / 295 LBS (4000 miles on the clock)

For a comparison there was a Sti8 with the PPP there that day and got

Figures = 276 BHP Not sure about the torque (2000 miles on the clock)

As you can see quite a big difference and a very happy R.B (Still want more hence phase 2 )

Cheers

R.B

Thanks for that Rob

I had a very interesting mail last night stating that the rollers may be out by 10 bhp + the same for the torque do to a new part being fittted ,i think Steve m said is car has produced 420 a couple of times and he got 409 so im going back down soon for a re-run Bob says the torque seemed low and would be more so fingers cossed

The car drives so much different to what it did with the ppp and it holds 1.5 bar in 5th all the way up to about 7000 rpm.

Cheers

HI R.B, i was at G force on saturday but must have gone just before you ran??? did you run fairly late in the day? Everyone said the figures were down on usual too, my silver wagon managed 269 bhp on the rollers running 1.1 bar boost, fangoria's motor made me moist

P.S what does a 3 bar boost solonoid do?

Thumbs up

Yes i ran next to last around 4pm i think.

Most Subaru`s only run a 2-port solinoid which normally the 3-port boost solinoid replaces when changing ecu`s or just a general re-map it gives a better controlled boost.

Someone will help explain this better than me.

very impressive figure m8,

I've had the tek3 (by powerstation) and only running 290!!

I'll have to look at de-catting the centre section.. or is there a high flow cat-section available?

Is there a real advantage of lagging the downpipe?

Thanks for that Scooby L

Lagging a downpipe or even Headers helps keep the temperature down under the bonnet.
