Tek3 boost levels on MY99 ??
Just had a tek3 caried out on my MY99 over here in OZ and am quite impressed with the power that I had gained over the Unichip that it replaced
one possible problem though, a boost spike/peak of 1.42 bar or 20psi which explains the impressive power level (201kws atw on a hubdyno ~30kw up on a Dynodynamics atw)
With the Tek3 on a standard internalled 99 motor what peak boost would be safe side I was thinking 18-18.5 psi tapering to 16 or so at 6500-7000.
Is it safe to run such a high level ~20psi even if its only in the midrange ?
I am thinking the answers to these is NO but I'm surprised that this was not picked up in 3.5hours dyno time...................
Previously I was running 17psi all theway to redline and no issues with the Unichip and a Blitz DSBC
I think I already know the answers to these questions but I just thought I'd run it by my motherland cousins as you seem to have the remaps sorted over there.
p.s boost is measured via the DSBC's internal mapsensor which being a digital display its hard to see instantaneous trends but the peak value is stored. A traditional analogue gauge is on order.

I was under the impression that 1.2 bar (17.4psi) was max on the 99/00 engine, and 1.1 was better for longevity of the internals.

Thats what I'm lead to believe too, might be time for a trip back to the tuner. I'll have a look at the responses tomorrow

Is this on a standard wrx motor or an sti/aftermarket rebuild. 1.5 sounds quite high indeed. I imagine its quick though
thanks in advance

According to the Defi's the max boost is 1.5 but quickly backs off to 1.3 in the top two gears. This is all on an MY99 complete with full decat, K&n 57i and an all new uprated clutch and billet flywheel
