Angry Is an ecu reset deneficial???

I have recently had an alarm/immobiliser fitted to the car in which the battery was off for the night. I also fitted a kmh to mph electronic convertor on at the same time. Oops sorry its an sti 7. ever since the car seems to be slower, it has less pull or so it feels. Do i need to do an ecu reset and drive it hard for a bit to reprogram it? or is the ecu reset a myth. Whats the easiest way on a 2001 sti 7, is it to leave the battery off again and restart? please help, i feel like i have lost the power

dunno about sti7's but as a rule of thumb an ecu reset sets the car back to its origional settings.

on my 93 wrx if i reset it is at its fastest, until it decides to retard the ignition due to any detting caused from fuel rated at less than 100ron.

are you sure its slower, or have you just convinced yourself it is because you thought it was, lol

also i would imaging fitting the kph to mph converter may make you think its slower, because the needle wont be moving as quickly

If you reset a MY99-00 or new age then it reloads defaults and loses all learnt fuel and ignition. this could make it feel better but normally wouldn't since part of the learning loop is to advance up the timing in the absence of det.

It will teach itself (what its able) in any case however its far more reluctant to advance than retard once its settled to a point.

My advice would be leave it alone unless you are advised to for a good reason.
