Default My scooby farts, please help :)

Hi peeps,

Just after a little advice on this one. Whenever I do any big turns it sounds like the steering is farting (dont know how else to describe it.) And when i do full lock I get a bad knocking sound.

The car is a 94 WRX Jap import.

A friend suggested it may be that the power steering fluid needs a change as it breaks down over time. Could this be correct and is it easy to rectify ? Also I thing there is a leak in the Power steering system. Any easy/cheap fixes ?

Cheers

Stu

PS Does anyone know where to obtain a 94 wrx import manual or similar in english without resorting to those ripoff merchants on Ebay ?

When i had my engine out to replace the crank, we had to remove part of the power steering pipe behind and back from the sump. When the engine was sorted the car started to do what you say is happening to yours on full lock and slow turning. ie parking and reverse parking. It turned out that the small drop in fluid and small amount of air in the system caused it and all i did was top it up and turn the steering on to full lock each way a few times and it sorted its-self.
