Talking Whats the max i can run....

98 classic with ppp...on 0.8/0.9 bar now what can i put it upto without ripping through gearboxes and clutches?

Fixed at 1.1bar peak at 1.2 id say safely, but you would need something other than the PPP ecu to run these figures on a phase 1 engine (and a knocklink/lamba link).

I thought the PPP used a higher boost pressure than that...? Anyway, as long as you're monitoring for det with a knocklink, you should be able to go to 1.0-1.1 bar reasonably safely. Is it the standard turbo?

what does det do to an engine, just wreck it in general?!?

Burns holes through your pistons, that kind of thing - not good.

cheers guys..running std turbo...what do you guys reckon...remap?...new ecu?..show me the way!!!

I don't think you can re-map the MY98s, can you...?

get a dawes, fuel cut bypass, fuel guage and knock link..boost about 1.2 bar

this seems to be the general idea people have given me

Hi Mate

Give Robert at Power Engineering a bell. PE are the only guys to offer a remap of your existing ECU. I organised a Group Buy through PE for TEK2/Phase2 remaps from 1997 - 2004 cars back in Jan.

My UK MY98 now runs a hefty 311BHP and 288LBF at 1.3Bar peak

Though most guys running 97 and 98 cars with full decat saw 280BHP and torque.

Mods

Uprated fuel pump and regulator (Lateral Performance £210)
VF24 Turbo (2nd hand £150)
440cc injectors using Pavlo's mounts (swapped them for a standard spoiler)
Full decat zaust (2nd hand stuff again)
KNi induction kit (£70)
AP organic clutch and RCM flywheel (only cos it was on the way out)
Intercooler has Samco hoses, air splitter, water spray and tilted.
Boost gauge, knocklink and AFR meters

Having some bearing problems with my gearbox atm but I think this is to do with wear and tear (increased due to extra performance) rather than the extra horses as all the gears are as new !
