Default Would this cause det?

Decided to change the cambelt on my UK Turbo MY98 yesterday. I noticed the cambelt was a bit slack :O (I could move the belt about an inch). The exhaust cam on the RHS bank was a tooth out. Would this cause det? I was getting a red flash on my knocklink at about 5000rpm on WOT.

Uprated fuel pump fitted and dawes set at 13 PSI.

Is it common for tensioners to fail after 55,000 miles?

Thanks
