Question Error decoding - black/green connectors

Have managed to locate these. Two questions:-

1) Whilst the green (reset) connectors are obviously compatible i.e. male and female of same type, the two blacks (all in the same bundle of wires) appear to be of 2 different varieties. Anyone come across this before... or is it the case that I simply haven't looked hard enough?

2) There doesn't appear to be enough "slack" in the wires to allow the connectors to be connected. I tried tugging them gently in the hope that this would release another inch or so, but with no luck. Is it necessary to remove/drop the steering column cowling to do this?

Many thanks

Keep looking, sounds like you've got the wrong wires, they should go tiogether easily!!

Whoa! The green connectors aren't "reset" connectors. The green ones initiate Test Mode, and the black ones trigger "read memory" mode. Both black and green pairs linked will initiate an ECU reset.

Not looked hard enough! One of the two is an "odd" black plug whose function escapes me at the moment. There will be another black plug somewhere that will be the mating half of one of the two you've already found.
