Check Engine and Antilock Brake light on while driving in Snow
Right then....
While driving home yesterday (in a blizzard of snow).........
......I opted to take a short cut down a lane on the side of my local mountain...
I travelled the majority of this road in 1st gear, allowing the engine to do all the (well most of ..) the breaking...
However, half way through the lane, the check engine light came on...... and stayed on....
I also used the brakes and the ABS kicked (as it would do on snow!!!) ..... and I noticed that the ABS light came on aswell........
I stopped where it was safe.... switched the engine off and back on again and all lights were off....... ( i assume this is a reset???)
............. anything I should be worried about.... or was it because I overdone the 'engine breaking bit'???
K reg Legacy saloon.........
Cheers

I`m not sure about the engine check light, but I know that abs will light up due to the different wheel speeds, front and back.
Its nothing to worry about its a common thing in ice/snow conditions.
Hope this helps

look here I believe the error codes can be retrieved in the same way for the Leg..
See what the error code was.. if it doesn;t reoccur then it was obviously to do with the driving in snow and therefore not much point worrying about it.. if it is a _real_ problem the light will come on again.
