Whining from power steering??
I know that this question has risen its ugly head before but the search is down.
A Loud whine appears if i give my 94Wrx the heavy right foot but can be cured 2 ways : -
1) By stopping and putting full lock on and a little RPM.
2) Also if I lift bonnet and put a little pressure on the power steering Cap it also cures it.Thinking that the seal may have gone on the cap but finding it hard to replace as it is only a Dealer part and they require a Chasis number??
Any help would be GREAT.
Evil..aka Andy.

Mine was doing this for a while, and topping up would cure it until it leaked out through the o-ring seal at the bottom of the reservoir.
It did eventually bugger up, due to the fact I wasn't here and it got well below a safe level. I had to get a new pump. Thanks to Buff, it wasn't too dear.
I'm assuming you've got sufficient fluid in the reservoir?
And hello DannyBoyTurbo (stranger).... shame you weren't at the meet.

This is what I am worried about , dont want to let it get any worse.
Does anyone know the procedure for draining the fluid and doing a change out??

I had this as well recently, was making a hell of a whining noise and seemed to be linked to how much you put your foot down, something to do with the reservoir. Got the pipes replaced and that fixed it.

both mine and a mates car at work squealled like pigs, imagine our delight upon purchasing a new bottle of power steering fluid totally fixed the problem.
5 months on and zero squeals! for £8 you can't really go wrong
