RWD conversion
Has anyone ever tried it? I've read this thread http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...d&pagenumber=1 So it's definitely possible but I'd love to hear from anyone who's had first hand experience with it.

not as easy as that unfortunatly... you need skyline gtst rear axle , sus, driveshaft and the rest. a 6 speed scooby gear box..... and alot of time.. would be easyer to get a dccd gear box and leave it in open diff 35/65.... but will add that i'm also looking into this .. had my scoob for a very long time and it needs a change... i'm not just selling it and buying a rwd as i've spent far to much money on it and wouldn't even get enough to buy one .. so rwd the scoob is gunna be the way .you can get kit from japan/austrilia.. but carn't find them at the mo and still searching the net for the way to do it... i do now of someone in cypras but he don't speak english so dosn't make any sence ..lolbut when i do i'll be posting a good thread up on it..

I guess it would all depend on what you where planning to do power wise, im pretty sure that if you went down the bodgetastic route of welding the center diff and removing the front shafts (not the cv's) that it would work ok for quite some time if you had relatively standard power, how it would handle etc im not sure at all. Im basing this assumption on the fact that the standard setup can just about live with double the standard power. Also RWD is more likely to break traction than parts perhaps.

ebay - subaru gearbox.
Fine for a track toy, but pointless for a road car, the suspension is set-up for 4WD, so will be hopeless in 2WD.
IMHO.

my mate done this in his classic. (he had too much money)
but he was going through rear drive shafts like there was no tomorrow. i have wanted to do this for ages but have been advised running gear from an evo is needed and its not worth the hassle. plus im running mid 300;s and my mate was not even running 300. . have seen a bug eye that has been done but dont know how long it lasted.
